Farm to Food Pantry

St. Xavier High School students generously donate their time, energy, and hard work with us on a regular basis throughout the school year.  This helps us to stay on top of projects, maintain the garden, and hopefully grow more food.  As the boys learn about food issues and farming each Saturday, their skills improve.  We love to see returning students who like the way we do things – it allows us to mentor the boys and make sure they’ve really got things down.

In return for the help that we get from these volunteers, Finn Meadows Farm donates organic vegetables and pastured meats to several local soup kitchens.  Additionally, in the summer months when we have an abundance of veggies, we donate to a food pantry at the end of the farmers market each week.  We think this is a wonderful program for all involved – it allows us to get some extra help, it gives students a service learning experience, and it gives those in need fresh food – which is severely lacking in some Cincinnati communities.
